CPU Intel Terbaru - Ivy Bridge

Overview

 

Ivy Bridge adalah nama kode dari mikroprosesor terbaru intel yang menggunakan mikroarsitektur Sandy Bridge. Nama ini juga berlaku lebih luas untuk mikroarsitektur 22 nm die shrink yang berbasis pada transistor tri-gate (3D), yang juga akan dipergunakan untuk mikroprosesor Ivy Bridge-EX dan Ivy Bridge-EP di masa yang akan datang. Ivy Bridge mendukung /kompatibel dengan platform Sandy Bridge, tapi aplikasinya mungkin masih membutuhkan pembaharuan firmware (tergantung pada vendor-nya).
 

Produksi dari chip Ivy Bridge telah dimulai sejak kuarter ke tiga tahun 2011. Quad-core dan dual-core untuk mobile telah diluncurkan masing-masing pada 29 April 2012 dan 31 May 2012. Sedangkan prosesor Core i3 untuk desktop yang juga merupakan procesor Pentium berukuran 22 nm pertama telah diluncurkan tersedia pada minggu pertama September 2012.

 

Performance

Apabila dibandingkan dengan Sandy Bridge, performa Ivy mengalami peningkatan 5-10% pada kemampuan CPU dan 25-68% pada kemampuan GPU

Dilaporkan bahwa Ivy Bridge berjalan lebih panas 10°C apabila dibandingkan dengan Sandy Bridge ketika dilakukan overclocked, walaupun proses itu menggunakan setting voltase yang standar. Hal ini dianalisa karena Intel menggunakan kualitas thermal paste yang kurang baik (mungkin lebih murah).

CPU Intel Terbaru - Sandy Bridge

Overview


Sandy Bridge, (sebelumnya dinamakan Gesher), adalah kode nama dari mikroarsitektur prosesor yang dikembangkan oleh Intel. Sandy bridge adalah penerus dari Nehalem dan oleh karena itu dipasarkan sebagai generasi kedua dari prosesor Core i.

Sandy Bridge dikembangkan sejak tahun 2005 di salah satu kantor Intel yaitu Israel Development Center (IDC) di kota Haifa. Sandy Bridge menggunakan proses manufaktur 32mm. Dan sejak tanggal 9 Januari 2011 Sandy Bridge sudah tersedia untuk komputer umum.processors became available on January 9, 2011.


Performance

Sebagai referensi, Core i5 2300 engineering sample memiliki kinerja 17% lebih daripada Core i5 760 (kecepatan keduanya sama yaitu 2.8GHz) pada 64-bit benchmarks.
